JOBS AND GROWTH BUDGET ON THE RIGHT TRACK

Ottawa, ON - Today, the Honourable Jim Flaherty, Minister of Finance, tabled a budget plan that builds on Canada's economic recovery with action to create jobs and stimulate growth, sustains the country's economic advantages and charts the way forward to budget balance. Member of Parliament for Prince Edward-Hastings, Daryl Kramp, says Budget 2010 is on the right track.

"Budget 2010 will see the government invest in new stimulus to create jobs now and also create jobs in the future", said Mr. Kramp. "I am also pleased to see measures to return to a budgetary balance once the economy recovers."

The Canadian Government held hundreds of consultations with Canadian workers and businesses across the country while developing this Budget.

In keeping with Canadians' priorities, the budget plan completes the Conservative government's Economic Action Plan - stimulus measures to create jobs now. It takes additional steps to protect existing jobs and create new ones, and it looks ahead to secure Canada's long-term growth.

"Our Jobs and Growth Budget continues a plan that is working. It will help solidify Canada's economic recovery and sustain our economic advantage now and for the future", added Mr. Kramp. "Our Government intends to be a partner in our economic recovery, not an obstacle to growth."

The Tweed Chamber of Commerce and members of the Festival of Trees, along with over 100 residents of municipality of Tweed joined forces to knit a wonderful 300 foot red scarf to show their support of our athletes in the Winter Olympics. The top photo shows MP Kramp joined by some of the organizers and knitters receiving the scarf which MP Kramp took to Ottawa to present to Minister of State (Sport), Gary Lunn for its journey to Vancouver. The bottom photo shows MP Kramp holding the scarf with Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Minister of Heritage and Official Languages, James Moore, both of whom were very impressed with this amazing scarf and the dedication and community spirit that went into creating it!
